Salah Scores 150th Liverpool Goal In Comeback Win Over Norwich

Klopp's side closes the gap on league leaders Manchester City to six points before the champions' late game, while Norwich drop to last place and are five points from safety.

Liverpool staged a second-half comeback against a tenacious Norwich side to earn their eighth consecutive win in all competitions and keep their Premier League title hopes alive.

The Reds had numerous chances to score against Norwich, but they were forced into action moments after the break when Milot Rashica’s deflected strike gave the Canaries hope of their first win at Anfield in 28 years.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who made seven changes from the side that defeated Inter Milan in the Champions League in midweek, intervened on 62 minutes to make attacking changes, and his team had turned the game around within four minutes.

Sadio Mane acrobatically turned home Konstantinos Tsimikas’ header, and Mohamed Salah raced on to goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s clearance to round Angus Gunn and score.

Salah’s 17th league goal of the season was his 150th in all competitions for Liverpool, making him one of only ten players to reach that milestone, and Luis Diaz sealed the win with a neat, chipped finish.

While the stats will show a Liverpool victory built on 29 shots and 70% possession, Norwich may feel cheated after displaying great character for over an hour.

Despite the threat of a Liverpool press that won the ball back six times in the final third in the first 45 minutes, their 4-3-3 system slickly dropped into a 4-5-1 out of possession, and Dean Smith’s side looked to play out from the back.

Teemu Pukki missed a one-on-one with Alisson in an entertaining opening, while Virgil van Dijk went close for the hosts, Tsimikas missed from four yards, Salah had a header cleared off the line, and Diaz fizzed an effort narrowly over.
