Following Thursday’s 3-0 Premier League defeat at Fulham, Aston Villa fired manager Steven Gerrard.
A club spokesman said: “We would like to thank Steven for his hard work and commitment and wish him well for the future.”

Villa have only won twice in the league this season and are only one point above the relegation zone in terms of goals scored.
After leaving Rangers, Steven Gerrard took over as Villa manager in November 2021, succeeding Dean Smith.
However, the 42-year-old former England and Liverpool midfielder led Villa to only 13 wins from 40 games in his 11 months in charge.
