Following that, the best player of the twenty-first century (yes, I said it) added another record to his resume, as he now has the most-liked Instagram post.

Messi shared a slideshow of himself and his teammates celebrating their World Cup victory. The post had over 67.9 million likes at the time of writing.

The previous record-holder, an egg stock photo, took the top spot in early 2019 and currently has more than 57.3 million likes.

Messi’s post of rejoicing after winning the World Cup has overtaken it. The Argentinian football legend’s photo also became the quickest to 50 million likes on social media as per the Olympics website.

“World Champions! I dreamed of it so many times, I wanted it so much that I still can’t believe it… Thank you very much to my family, to all who support me, and also to all who believed in us,” Lionel Messi posted.
