Djokovic Tied Steffi Graf’s Record For Most Weeks At Number One

Since March 2021, the 35-year-old Serb has held the record for the most weeks as men’s world number one.

On Monday, he surpassed Germany’s Graf, who first topped the women’s rankings in 1987.

Graf remained world number one for 186 weeks after first becoming world number one, a women’s record that was later matched by Serena Williams in 2016.

Between July 2014 and November 2016, Djokovic held the top spot for 122 weeks. He trails Roger Federer (237 weeks), Jimmy Connors (160), and Ivan Lendl in that category (157).

Djokovic won the Australian Open in January, returning to the top spot for the first time in six months.

He currently has 7,070 points, 590 more than Carlos Alcaraz of Spain.

The men’s world rankings were introduced in 1973, followed by the women’s rankings two years later.
