India advanced to the Asia Cup 2023 Super Four by defeating Nepal by 10 wickets in Pallekele, Sri Lanka during a game that was cut short by rain.
In the Group A match, Nepal were bowled for 230 runs off 48.2 overs before weather postponed the beginning of India’s chase.
With 17 balls remaining, they easily won after being given a revised target of 145 off 23 overs using the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.
Shubman Gill smashed an unbeaten 67 off 62 balls, and captain Rohit Sharma scored 74 not out off 59 balls.
India joins Pakistan and Bangladesh in qualifying for the Asia Cup Super Four group round of the 50-over competition, which will see each team play each other once before the final on September 17.
Sri Lanka will also qualify if they escape a crushing defeat by Afghanistan on Tuesday in Lahore, Pakistan.
After their Group A game on Saturday was called off due to rain, India will face Pakistan in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo on September 10.
Because of political concerns, Pakistan and India have only played each other in ICC global events or Asia Cup matches at neutral grounds since 2013.
