Flamengo Through To Club World Cup Finals Beating Al Hilal 3-1

Brazilian football club Flamengo has made it through to the Club World Cup finals after beating Saudi’s Al Hilal 3-1 on Tuesday. The side managed to pull off a remarkable comeback in the second half.

Flamengo had a terrible start to the game as underdogs Al Hilal seemed to get off on the right footing by pressing the Flamengo defense.

Their continued effort finally paid off in the 18th minute of play when an assist from  Mohammed Al-Burayk gave way to a goal from Salem Al Dawsari. This put Al Hilal in the lead as the teams went into the half time break with Al Hilal leading 0-1.

It looked as though Flamingo were able to regroup during the half time break as they finally came to life in the second half of the match.

In the 49th minute of play, Flamengo’s Bruno Henrique assisted teammate Giorgian de Arrascaeta in scoring the clubs the first goal of the match levelling both teams on 1-1.

The goal seemed to give Flamengo a much-needed boost of encouragement as they remained on the attack.

Their persistence finally paid off when Bruno Henrique managed to head in a cross from Rafinha in the 78th minute giving Flamengo a 2-1 lead over the Saudi’s.

Just 4 minutes later Al Hilal worsened their situation when Ali Hadi Albulayh conceded an own goal.

As if this wasn’t bad enough for Al Hilal, their Peruvian midfielder André Carrillo received a red card for violent conduct in the 83rd minute bringing the already disadvantaged team to just 10 men.

The match ended with Flamengo clutching a 3-1 victory over the Saudi’s sending them right through to the finals of the Club World Cup finals.
