Usain Bolt Features At Tokyo 2020 Olympic Stadium Opening

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic main stadium is finally open and ready for use. Usain Bolt made an appearance at the opening ceremony.

The stadium played host to a crowd of 59,500 people who witnessed the small ceremony marking the opening of the main stadium.

8-time gold medalist Usain Bolt took part in a relay race which included athletes from both the Olympics and Paralympics which are to be held in 2020.

The $1.4 billion dollar stadium will host its first event on 1 January 2020 as it has been chosen as the location for the Emperor’s Cup football final.

Japan’s Rugby World Cup superstars  Michael Leitch, Fumiaki Tanaka, Ryoto Nakamura as well as J-Pop groups Arashi and Dreams Come True were all part of the small opening ceremony.

In honor of the Olympic games next year 2,020 people from the crowd were chosen to complete a lap around the newly opened track.

Usain later told the media:

“It was a great experience,”

“I was happy and excited because I won’t be getting to compete at the Olympics so the fact that I got to run on the track was an experience in itself.

The 2020 Summer Olympics are scheduled to officially begin Friday, 24 July 2020 and end on Sunday, 9 August 2020.
