USA Women Soccer World Cup Champions Through To Tokyo Olympics

Women soccer World Cup champions team USA are looking to for gold as they qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after beating Mexico 4-0 at the CONCACAF regional qualifiers at Dignity Sports Park in Carson, California.

Team USA who are currently undefeated and are top of the Group A table took on  Mexico who are second in Group B in the CONCACAF semi-final Olympic qualifying match.

Rose Lavelle gave the US team an early lead scoring the first goal of the game just 5 minutes into the game thanks to an assist from Megan Rapinoe.

Rapinoe also assisted in the American side in their second goal of the game after Sam Mewis scored in the 14th minute of play of a corner from Rapino.

The teams broke for the half with America leading 2-0.

Mewis scored her second goal of the game giving the US team a 3-0 lead of Mexico in the 67th minute followed by Christen Press who secured the team their Olympic spot with a goal 6 minutes later as the US team went on to win the game 4-0.

The USA Women soccer team will be looking to become the first side to win both the World Cup and the Olympics in a single campaign.

The American side dominated the game with 60% possession having a total of 26 shots of which 11 were on target.

Mexico were only able to take 6 shots with only 1 being on target.

The US soccer team will now face Canada, who also qualified for the Olympics after their 1-0 win over Costa Rica, in the CONCACAF finals on Monday.
